A partir de c ette saison, ce « All-Star game des jeunes » qui regroupe les meilleurs rookies et sophomores (première et deuxième année en NBA), se transforme en opposition entre les Etats-Unis et le reste du Monde.
Aux côtés de Gorgui Dieng dans l’équipe des étrangers, on retrouvera notamment Rudy Gobert (Utah/France), Andrew Wiggins (Minnesota/Canada), Giannis Antetokounmpo (Milwaukee/Grèce) ou encore Nikola Mirotic (Chicago/Espagne). Côté américain, Michael Carter-Williams (Philadelphia), Victor Oladipo (Orlando) et Mason Plumlee ont notamment été sélectionnés.
